Pondering over brittle bones...

A lot can happen in a day – to move from ability and disability need only take seconds…or even a dog deciding to take a stroll on a bright sunny day!! There has been a lot of learning these past months – conscious thinking of every single muscle, every single movement…and it’s amazing how much freedom one loses in a matter of seconds. Someone said the other day, “now you must realize what disabled people must feel like”…What?? Having no empathy for the disabled?? Was it really true?? …Well… I had not given it much conscious thought. Never thought how you have to wait and prepare for the elevators to open, time your movements, so that you can really get out in one shape and not get caught like a animal in a cage...Never given much thought to the weight you literally carry around…Forget obesity, even the smallest grocery bag seems like a rock!! Never thought how handicap inaccessible old showers can be!! Ignorance can be sometimes so brittle and so can one’s bones…
